Key Advantages

Limitation

AV variant only provides dust protection. It cannot resist liquid water, mud slurry or high-pressure spray. For humid or wet working conditions, additional skeleton oil seals must be installed together.

AV vs JV Selection Guide

AV (Outer Ring Seal): Lip contacts outer ring. Suitable for stationary housing with rotating shaft, preferred for most applications.
JV (Inner Ring Seal): Lip contacts inner ring. Designed for special scenarios where housing rotates while shaft remains static. 2206-JV is the inner sealing counterpart for this bearing size.

Installation Guidelines

1. Fit AV ring tightly against bearing outer ring end face. Force should only apply to the outer part of sealing ring during installation. Never squeeze the sealing lip.
2. No modification needed for existing bearing housing. Clamp the ring between bearing outer ring and housing shoulder directly.
3. Minor friction noise may occur at the initial running-in phase. Noise will decrease once stable clearance forms after operation.
4. For wet / water exposure conditions: Use NILOS-AV as inner dust shield and add extra oil seal on the outer side.
5. Taper bore bearing 2206K can also adopt 2206-AV sealing ring.
