61900-2RS is a precision thin-section deep groove ball bearing with dimensions of 10 × 22 × 6 mm. It is characterized by its extremely low cross-sectional height, compact construction, and reliable sealing performance. The bearing uses GCr15 high-carbon chromium bearing steel balls and a pressed steel cage to support smooth, low-noise operation. Its 2RS double-sided contact rubber seals provide effective protection against dust and water, while the factory-filled grease allows the bearing to be installed and operated directly. It is widely used in small motors, office equipment, sporting products, precision instruments, and other applications where installation space and operating reliability are important.
Bearing Designation Explained
61900: 6 = Deep groove ball bearing; 19 = Thin-section / extra-thin series; 00 = 10 mm bore diameter
2RS / 2RS1: Double-sided contact rubber seals. The sealing lips directly contact the bearing rings to provide protection against dust and water. This differs from ZZ metal shields, which are non-contact shields and generally provide weaker water protection.
Product Advantages
Extra-Thin Section Design: With a cross-sectional width of only 6 mm and an outside diameter of 22 mm, the bearing requires minimal installation space and is well suited to compact, lightweight equipment. Its width is smaller than that of standard 6000-series bearings.
Double-Sided 2RS Contact Seals: The rubber seals help retain the internal grease while preventing dust, moisture, and small particles from entering the bearing. The bearing is factory pre-lubricated, reducing the need for routine relubrication under normal operating conditions and helping extend service life in contaminated environments.
Suitable for Combined Loads: The bearing is primarily designed to accommodate radial loads and can also support moderate axial loads in both directions. Its low friction characteristics make it suitable for high-speed rotational applications.
Low Noise and Low Vibration: Precision-ground raceways contribute to smooth rotation and stable operation, making the bearing suitable for equipment where operating noise and vibration need to be controlled.
Simple Installation and Removal: The standard cylindrical bore allows convenient installation and broad interchangeability. Stainless steel versions are also available for humid or mildly corrosive environments.
Dimensional Interchangeability: The standardized cylindrical bore and overall dimensions allow direct replacement of bearings such as 61900-2RS and 6900-2RS where the application requirements are compatible.
Compared with ZZ Metal Shields: The 2RS configuration provides better dust and water protection than ZZ metal shields, while its limiting speed is generally slightly lower because of the contact seal friction.
Application Limitations
Due to its thin-section construction, the 61900-2RS is not intended for heavy impact loads or severe heavy-duty applications and is primarily suitable for light-to-medium loads. The contact seals introduce a small amount of additional friction. For extremely high-speed applications, an open bearing or ZZ-shielded version may be more appropriate, depending on the lubrication and contamination requirements.
Typical Applications
Small Motors and Micro Motors: Small servo motors, fan motors, and brushless motors.
Office and Office Automation Equipment: Printer mechanisms, scanners, and roller shafts in photocopiers.
Sports and Recreational Equipment: Skateboards, roller skates, fitness equipment shafts, and small rollers.
Precision Instruments and Inspection Equipment: Rotating shafts in compact instruments and optical equipment.
Light Industrial Equipment: Small conveyor rollers, packaging machinery, and compact textile machinery.
Power Tools and Small Household Appliances: Rotating shafts in handheld power tools and small kitchen appliances.
Small Robot Joints and Compact Transmission Mechanisms: Lightweight rotating components installed in space-constrained robotic joints and compact drive mechanisms.
Available Variants in the Same Series
61900-ZZ: Double-sided metal shields without rubber contact seals. It offers higher speed capability, provides dust protection, but has limited water protection.
61900: Open version without seals or shields. It requires an external lubrication system or periodic lubrication according to the operating conditions.
W61900-2RS1: Stainless steel bearing version with improved corrosion resistance, suitable for humid environments. Its load-carrying capacity is generally somewhat lower than that of the standard bearing-steel version.
