Application Note: 6224 is not recommended for applications involving large angular misalignment, severe impact loads, or predominantly heavy axial loads. For such conditions, spherical roller bearings or tapered roller bearings may be more appropriate.

Selection and Operating Considerations
Speed Selection: Due to seal friction, the limiting speed of the 2RS version is significantly lower than that of the open version. For high-speed applications, the open 6224 is generally preferred, with regular grease replenishment as required.
Internal Clearance: CN clearance is suitable for standard operating conditions. C3 clearance is recommended for high-temperature applications, large interference fits, or environments involving vibration and impact loads.
Mounting Dimensions: The minimum shaft shoulder diameter should be ≥131 mm, while the maximum housing shoulder bore diameter should be ≤204 mm. Shaft and housing fillet radii should be ≤2 mm to prevent interference with the bearing chamfers.
Lubrication: The open version requires periodic grease replenishment. The 2RS sealed version is pre-greased at the factory and generally does not require additional lubrication.
